Edit or retract a message

You can edit or remove your own messages.

Edit

1. Hover your message and select Edit (or the ⋯ menu).
2. Change the text and confirm. The message shows an edited marker (XEP-0308); readers see the new text.

Delete (retract)

1. Hover your message and select Delete / Retract.
2. Confirm. The message is removed for everyone (XEP-0424). A fallback (“message retracted”) may show in clients that do not support retraction.

Both actions are recorded in the room’s history (MAM).
